Ginkgo biloba
Description: A unique, ancient deciduous species—often called a "living fossil"—known for its distinct fan-shaped leaves that turn bright yellow in autumn and high resilience in urban environments. Growing up to 100 feet, they are hardy, disease-resistant, and dioecious, with female trees producing foul-smelling fruit-like seeds.

Source: Seeds taken from the ginkgo growing in front of Atlanta’ Randolph-Lucas-Jones House. The historic home was built for the great great grandson of Thomas Jefferson, who was also a great lover of the tree, which he received as gift from his friend William Hamilton and planted in the gardens at Monticello. The 160 year old Pratt ginkgo in front of the Mr. Jefferson’s Rotunda on grounds at the University of Virginia is among the most famous ginkgos in the world.
